Aren’t they?

I am the antithesis of knitting monogomy. It seems that whenever I finally finish something, I get all excited and want to start 10 new projects. Well, 3 new projects, so far…
First we have Mother’s Day socks, by request.
The yarn is some 95% merino/5% cashmere I dyed a little while back. The pattern is my own.
Next up is a new stuffed animal, for my nephew’s first birthday, also in May.
The pattern is from World of Knitted Toys, just like the shark. I stopped by Purlescence to pick up this yarn, and a few other things… last Wednesday.
Lastly, I started a Super Spiral Shawl (by Meg Swanson in A Gathering of Lace) in the sari silk I got from Yarn Place at Stitches West last year. I’ve been wanting to make this shawl out of this yarn for quite a while now, so I’m glad I finally got started. You can’t really tell much from the picture, but it’s going very quickly on size 13 needles!

You’re just going to have to imagine the music….. dunh dunh… dunh dunh… dunh dunh Dunh Dunh DUnh DUnh DUNh DUNH!!!!!!
Or not. Maybe he’s not so scary.
Here he comes!
Watch out!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!
So, did you guess correctly?
By the way, remember the turtle? And its recipient, Kacelyn?
The shark is for her new baby brother!
P.S. Apparently there’s some confusion, and some people think he looks more like a swordfish….

I couldn’t resist! I plied up the Sprout yarn from Yarn Wench.
Note: These pics are before washing and setting the twist. I’m hoping it will fluff up a little after that.
It’s 378 yd of 2-ply sock-weight yarn!
I can’t wait to start knitting some spring-y socks! Happy Spring!

I wrote up the baby blanket pattern!
You can find it here!
(Added later) The Homespun is going to the Girl Scouts. Thanks for voting Pauline. =)
Also, Pauline finished her socks using Fiber Fiend sock yarn!
Check them out!
Also, because no blog post should be without pictures, I finished spinning the singles of the Romney from Yarn Wench in Sprout! 4.4 oz., ready to be plied into a 2-ply sock yarn!

I finished the baby blanket! Yay!
Now I’m ready to get rid of all the rest of the Lion Brand Homespun I own. Any takers? I’ve got a little more than 3 skeins of the baby blanket blue, a skein of magenta/pink, and part of a multi-colored skein. You can see the colors here.
In case anyone’s curious, the pattern is really easy. I’ll write it up soon and post it.
For scale, you can see the blanket is even bigger than Siena!
In other baby knitting, I whipped up the pieces for this stuffed animal over the weekend.
Any guesses as to what it is?

It was awesome to get some spinning done at Spinnity’s on Saturday and at my house last night with Kristi.
Kristi started some amAzing Lisa Souza merino/silk last night, and now I wish I had gotten some at Stitches… Anyhow, last week I started spinning the Romney I got from Yarn Wench for my birthday.
I’m planning on a 2-ply sock yarn. I think I’m just over halfway done with the singles.
Then, I was determined to finish up the bamboo I started so long ago… I spun singles all day on Saturday and finished them up last night.
I tried to wind them into a ball to ply, but I ended up with 7 balls because it BROKE so many times!!
That’s ok, because I think the yarn turned out pretty well, and it only broke once when I wound it into a skein.
It’s 428 yards / 4 oz. of 100% bamboo that I dyed with RIT dye last May.
It’s so nice to spin some yarn for myself!
Although I think there’s a good chance this yarn will be knit up into a gift…

It seems like I haven’t been knitting much lately, except for a few swatches and baby sock samples (and finishing Corsica… sort of).
It was so nice to feel the pressure lift after Stitches. I’d like to finish some knitting projects up, like the baby blanket for my nephew that I started almost a year ago.
Above is a quarter of the blanket and below you can see what the center looks like. I’m knitting concentric squares of alternating stockinette and garter. I’m more than halfway done!
My nephew will never remember whether he got it when he was born or for his first birthday!
I also couldn’t resist starting something with some of the yarn I bought at Stitches. I actually started this scarf in the last few slow hours of Stitches, while I was manning the booth (with Cookie).
It’s a vine lace pattern with garter stitch border in the El Dorado (kid mohair/silk) yarn I got from Lisa Souza’s booth. You can always use more scarves, right?

Mojo grew taller the other day. I swear, I think it was last Wednesday, I looked at him, and he was totally taller than he was on Tuesday. Noticeably.
He’s now 7 months old, and I remembered to weigh and measure him on the right day (last month I was about 10 days late…). He’s 43 lbs! And he’s 20.5″ tall at the shoulder and 25″ long. He was 39 lbs last month (less than 4 weeks ago) and 19″ tall.
He’s getting much closer to Siena-size! We’re still hoping he’s got some more growing to do…
Play with me!
Play with me!
No!

This is the story of how I didn’t make any money at Stitches…
I only bought stuff from 3 (oops, 4, I forgot about the roving…) vendors! But man, did I like their stuff!
First I was stopped by Lisa Souza’s booth. She had roving, but I was more interested in the yarn.
First I had to fondle some Alpaca Lace, that I never let go of. It’s in the Olive Tones colorway. 8 oz. or 2480 yards! Mmmm….
I then moved a few more feet into the booth and fell in love with El Dorado, a 70% Kid Mohair / 30% Silk yarn which is soooooo soft! It’s 4 oz / 264 yd, also in Olive Tones.
Something might already be in the making with this…
I moved another foot in, and got ahold of this: Blue Faced Leicester in Petroglyph.
It’s 4 oz. / 330 yd, so I’m planning on a pair of socks…
As I walked around to the other side, I picked up a skein of SOCK! Merino in Petroglyph and I couldn’t put it down…
It’s 4 oz. / 560 yd, so I could make some tall socks with it!
I love how I picked the same colorways in different fibers, and how they look totally different…
Then, I couldn’t resist Brooks Farm.
What caught my eye first was their Primero yarn, 100% Kid Mohair. They had the most amazing colors. It’s 8 oz. / 500 yd, and it’s bound to be something lacy!
Next I fell in love with Brooks Farm’s Acero yarn, a 60% superwash wool, 20% silk, 20% viscose sock weight yarn (4 oz / 420 yd). I couldn’t decide on colors, so I got two!
Since I loved the Brooks Farm yarn so much, when I ran into Tina, Linda, and Jill later in the weekend, I had to make sure they didn’t miss the booth. Not only did they get some yummy yarn, I found something I hadn’t seen before and couldn’t resist. It’s Limited Edition II Single Ply of 50% wool 50% mohair, and it’s gorgeous. Someday it will be a scarf (4 oz. / 420 yd)
Last but not least, I jumped on the cashmere boat and got some Belisa Cashmere lace weight for a scarf (50 g / 500 yd)…
Actually the first thing I bought at Stitches was some 70% merino / 30% silk roving, which I think is from Ashland Bay, which is the same stuff I bought from Carolina Homespun a little while ago. I didn’t take any pictures, but you can see what it looks like here — it’s the green one on the left.
Oh, I almost forgot! I got some free samples from the South West Trading Company booth.
