I’ve been working on spinning up some of my fiber into a bulky/super bulky yarn to sell at Stitches and later on in the store.

Here’s some superwash merino in the flame colorway.  I think I might knit a hat out of this and keep it as a sample…

I really like this colorway.

Here’s some superwash merino in the Fire & Ice colorway…

I’ve also been busy spinning more sample yarns.  Here’s the Tussah Silk in Midnight Sky in a 2-ply laceweight yarn…

I really love the way this fiber spins up — it’s so shiny!

Here the Tussah Silk is in the Flame colorway in a 2-ply laceweight…

I can’t wait to knit up a lacey sample with it!

I’ve also been working on my 2nd Corsica sweater.  I finished the body up to the armpits a while back, and I knit one sleeve last Thursday when I was at home sick.  I got pretty far on the second sleeve at Sunday Bobaknit and a superbowl party, feeling better, then got more sick again and finished the 2nd sleeve at home sick yesterday.  I see Sweater’s End in my future…

I also started the second Firefly sock out of my handspun.  It’s not going to look like the first one, but that’s fine by me.  I could have spun/plied such that the socks would look the same, but I decided I didn’t care and that two different socks would show more of the color combinations possible with the fiber.

Not only did I get to do some spinning on my birthday, I got fibery gifts!

First (by request) from my sister, I got some Romney from Yarn Wench in the Sprout colorway:

And some Domestic in the Burnish colorway:

I can’t wait to spin these up!  I haven’t spun either of these fibers yet!

Then, Kristi and Cookie got me some undyed spinning fibers from Louet!
First is a 1/2 pound of merino/silk…

And last but not least, a 1/2 pound of cultivated silk sliver!

I can’t wait to dye these after the Stitches madness is over!

I’ve been busy again!

There’s new superwash merino in the store, in the Fire & Ice colorway that my handspun sock is knit from (although my sock is in merino/tencel)…

Speaking of which, I finished the first sock!  The pattern is called Firefly, and is available in the store by itself and in sock knitting kits and sock spinning kits (ssk’s)!

I had a pretty low-key birthday last Sunday, but I did manage to get in some fibery fun.

Abigail brought her whole family over and got some knitting done while her son Stefan tried to “help” me spin.  He seemed to have actually figured out how the wheel worked, because he stepped on the treadle and looked expectantly at the bobbin, waiting for it to spin.

Besides “helping,” Stefan also really wanted to touch my yarn-in-the-making…
(Thanks to Abigail for the pictures!)

I tried to help my friend’s daughter Julia learn how to knit…

And I did finish spinning the singles for my midnight sky tussah silk sample yarn.
